Victoria Beckham's Engagement Rings By The Decade:

David and Victoria Beckham's Relationship History

David and Victoria Beckham first started making the rounds in the British tabloids in 1997 after meeting at a charity event for Manchester United. Victoria, who was known as Victoria “Posh Spice” Adams at the time was at the height of her Spice Girls fame as the group was fresh off the heels of their smash hit Wannabe that catapulted them to superstardom a year earlier. David on the other hand was making waves in the football world as a midfielder for Manchester United.

David & Victoria Beckham Relationship Timeline | Victoria Beckham's Engagement Rings

After a whirlwind romance, the couple announced their engagement in January 1998 and would welcome their first child, a son named Brooklyn in 1999. The pair would eventually exchange wedding rings at an over-the-top ceremony at Luttrellstown Castle which is located just outside Dublin, Ireland. Victoria looked like royalty in a silk ball gown designed by legendary wedding dress designer, Vera Wang that was accessorised with a grand 18ct yellow gold tiara and an elegant diamond cross necklace. Following their nuptials, David and Victoria wasted no time adding to their brood with sons, Romeo and Cruz as well as daughter Harper.

Having been married for over 23 years (practically a lifetime by Hollywood standards), David and Victoria’s relationship is somewhat of a modern love story that has defied all the expectations of cynics. Often the source of tabloid fodder, the media practically reports on every aspect of this power couple’s personal and professional lives, from their twinning red carpet fashion moments all the way to their jet-set lifestyle. The couple is known for their eye for luxury real estate and own homes in Miami, London, the British countryside and Dubai, as well as a penthouse inside the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa and a super yacht that is docked in the Florida Keys. The pair previously owned a rustic 17-acre Cotswolds mansion that was affectionately dubbed by the press, “Beckingham Palace”. So, when news got out that David gifts Victoria a new gemstone or diamond ring whenever the couple reaches a new milestone in their seemingly very solid relationship, it suffices to say that the world wasn't all that surprised. They are practically a royal couple at this stage.

1998: Yellow Gold Marquise-Cut Diamond Engagement Ring

Victoria, who was known as Victoria “Posh Spice” Adams at the time was at the height of her Spice Girls fame as the group was fresh off the heels of their smash hit Wannabe that catapulted them to superstardom a year earlier. 2001: Diamond Platinum Band

Following their 1999 nuptials, the now-Mrs Beckham swapped out her wedding and engagement rings for an eternity ring. The singer was first spotted wearing the ring at an event promoting the release of her autobiography, Learning To Fly in 2001. It was just after the Spice Girls broke up and Victoria was gearing up to make it out on her own as both a solo artist and a style star.

Set with a thick platinum band, Victoria’s second ring featured bevelled edges and an array of tiny brilliant round cut diamonds that were arranged in a pave style setting that gave this piece a super sparkly exterior. The platinum ring remains is the only band-style piece that Posh has been spotted wearing on its own, resulting in many questions about whether the piece is classified by the couple as a wedding ring, an eternity ring or even an engagement ring. Victoria Beckham’s engagement rings rarely appear to be accompanied by an engagement ring, which is not uncommon for some couples.

2003: Emerald-Cut Diamond Platinum Engagement Ring

Five years on from when the couple first became engaged, David really upped the ante by presenting Victoria with an incredibly-grand emerald and baguette-cut engagement ring in 2003. The former girl group star first showed off the sparkly creation when the couple appeared in matching white ensembles on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards. Victoria fashioned the stunning ring with a floor-length corset-style Dolce and Gabanna gown adorned with crystals and a trendy pair of diamond drop earrings.

Reportedly worth around £1.2 million ($2.1 million AUD), the emerald-cut engagement ring featured a large centre emerald-cut diamond that was accompanied by two baguette-cut diamonds that sit on either side of the centre stone on a split-shank setting. Complete with a thin platinum band, the ring’s carat size is still up for debate, although just by viewing this emerald ring in pictures we can tell that it is likely incredibly heavy.

2004: Pink Oval-Cut Diamond Halo Engagement Ring

While most people give their wives flowers or a pair of earrings for their birthday, Mr Beckham heightened expectations for couples everywhere when he gifted Posh a magnificent coloured diamond ring to commemorate her 30th birthday as well as their fifth wedding anniversary. While it may be a little extreme for us non-celebrities celebrating half a decade of marriage, we expect nothing less from this power couple.

Posh Spice is synonymous with her monocratic style, so she took us all by surprise when she debuted a romantic pink diamond engagement ring. With a price tag of over 1.1 million USD, Victoria’s halo engagement ring is a massive departure from all the previous diamonds she has been given due to its more classic shape. Boasting flirty champagne pink oval-cut centre diamond that is accentuated by a myriad of white brilliant round cut diamonds, the oval engagement ring is clearly one of Posh’s favourites as appears to wear it more frequently than some recent designs she has been given.

Mid To Late-2000s

2005: Pear-Cut Diamond Engagement Ring

By 2005, the Beckhams had solidified their status as one of the world’s biggest power couples, rivalling the likes of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Will and Jada Smith, Brad and Angelina as well as even Will and Kate. The couple were two years into a stint abroad in Spain where David played for Real Madrid and had just welcomed the couple’s third son, Cruz. To commemorate the arrival of their latest family member, David gifted Victoria a pear-shaped engagement ring that was her biggest one yet.

Weighing a whopping 17 carats, Posh’s pear-shaped diamond ring is not only one of her biggest but also one of her most expensive rings. Reportedly setting the midfielder back around £2.2 million ($3.9 million in Australian dollars), this engagement ring features a large centre pear-cut diamond that is suspended on a simplistic four-prong solitaire setting that is decorated with yellow gold and round cut pave diamonds. The singer-turned-fashion designer is occasionally spotted wearing the ring on red carpets and in paparazzi snaps.

2006: Yellow Gold Emerald-Cut Diamond Engagement Ring

2006 was the year Victoria furthered her interests in the fashion world by debuting her very-own denim line, DVB style which was sold exclusively at various British and American department stores. Victoria’s husband commemorated this very-special milestone by spoiling the star with yet another emerald-cut engagement ring. This time opting for one with a little bit more colour.

Featuring a timeless yellow gold and diamond pave setting, this stylish engagement ring confirms that the mum of four has a clear penchant for emerald-cut diamonds. This piece’s large pale yellow stone not only helps capture people’s attention but also emphasises the setting of this gold engagement ring. Often flanked with a matching wedding and eternity ring, is not known how much this bridal cost Mr Beckham or how many carats it has, all we can comment on is that the rings only appear to be getting bigger as more time goes by.

2007: Cushion-Cut Emerald Engagement Ring

2007 was a big year for the Beckhams, not only did David’s stint at Real Madrid but the family would start a new chapter across the pond as the football star took up a new position with the LA Galaxy. As to be expected, David marked this milestone with yet another engagement ring. This would mark another change in the couple’s life as Becks transitioned to giving Victoria gemstone engagement rings.

2007 | Victoria Beckham Engagement Rings

Perhaps one of her most unique and eye-catching rings, Posh’s cushion-cut engagement ring features a huge emerald stone that is sitting on top of a sculptural style spiral setting that is decorated with an assortment of round cut diamonds. Cut into a cushion shape, the emerald engagement ring offers somewhat of an old-timey and art deco feel that is reminiscent of the engagement rings exchanged by couples in the 1800s.

2008: Pave Emerald-Cut Engagement Ring

Victoria officially made the long-awaited transition from performer to fashion designer with the launch of her eponymous label in 2008 and naturally, David was keen to celebrate this career milestone with yet another engagement ring-ten years after she received the first. This time, instead of opting for another coloured or gemstone creation, the star played it safe and opted for an old favourite with yet another emerald-cut ring.

2008 | Victoria Beckham Engagement Rings

Designed by Swiss jeweller Chopard, the emerald-cut creation is a near-replica of the yellow gold ring she received in 2006 with the exception of its colour and size. Weighing an exceptionally heavy 15 carats, Beckham opted for a colourless diamond rather than a pale yellow champagne-coloured diamond as well as platinum or white gold setting with pave diamonds. The designer also opted to not wear this version with a matching wedding and eternity band.

2009: Oval-Cut Ruby & Diamond Halo Engagement Ring

2009 was the year that Posh and Becks celebrated their ten-year wedding anniversary and it should come as no surprise that this major marriage milestone for the couple was by no means a low-key affair. Beckham has after all spent a good part of the last decade at this point showering Victoria with brand-new bridal jewellery and nevertheless went all out for their ten year, adding yet another gemstone ring to their next collection.

Practically indistinguishable from the star’s emerald ring designed by Chopard with the exception of its luscious cushion-cut ruby that also weighs 15 carats. Symbolising wealth and prosperity as well as love, passion and raw emotion, it is likely that David chose this regal ruby engagement ring to mark a decade of marriage as rubies are the July birthstone. While neither of them is born in July, the couple exchanged vows on July 4 and therefore the ruby ring could be symbolic of the birth of their union.

The 2010s

The 2010s | Victoria Beckham Engagement Rings

2010: Oval-Cut Sapphire Engagement Ring

Prince William’s then-girlfriend, Kate Middleton wasn’t the only famous Brit to receive a sapphire engagement ring in 2010, as it was also the gemstone of choice when David picked out the TENTH engagement ring for his wife’s burgeoning collection. Perhaps he even garnered inspiration from the royal couple? They are close friends with the couple after all. And while Posh’s sapphire piece may not be as iconic as Kate’s diamond and sapphire halo ring that was once worn by Princess Diana, it certainly makes up for that with its size and overall luxe appeal.

Much like the two other gemstone engagement rings that David has purchased for his bride, the sapphire ring he got her was also designed by Chopard. Although, this ring strays from the design he initially chose from the other two. Sitting on a dainty platinum band, Posh’s 2010 engagement ring features a mammoth oval-cut sapphire stone adorned in a luscious royal blue hue that immediately captures your attention when the star sports it on the red carpet.

2011: Pink Oval-Cut Diamond Engagement Ring

2011 was a big year for this golden couple. Not only did the couple get to attend the wedding of the decade for their friends, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but Beckham announced that he would be leaving the LA Galaxy. This year also saw the arrival of the couple’s fourth child, their first and only girl, something that Victoria was very pleased about as it gave her someone to dress up. With so many reasons to celebrate, it was only natural that Beckham commemorated it with-you guessed it, another ring!

Taking a break from gemstones, David would add yet another coloured ring to Posh Spice’s collection with yet another pink diamond. Considerably smaller than many of her rings from previous years, Victoria’s engagement ring from 2011 is adorned with a playful blush-coloured diamond cut into an oval shape. It is likely that David was drawn to this diamond because of the arrival of their baby girl. The ring is emphasised by a thin yellow gold band decorated with an assortment of brilliant round-cut diamonds. The setting is also a major departure from previous designs as it is much more dainty and minimalist, something that was very on par with her paired back style at the time.

2015: Round-Cut Diamond Halo Engagement Ring

Following a brief bling hiatus, Victoria upgraded her collection with a diamond halo ring in 2015. By this point, the couple had been married sixteen years which is a very long time by celebrity standards and this newest addition to Victoria’s collection would coincide with the couple’s fortieth birthday taking place in 2014 and 2015 respectively. So, it is safe to assume that the couple was in a mood to celebrate.

Decorated with a halo of brilliant-cut diamonds, Victoria Beckham’s engagement ring for 2015 may not be the biggest but it was certainly one of the glitziest. Featuring a large D-grade round-cut diamond that sits on top of a raised platinum or white gold setting, Victoria’s round-cut engagement ring has a very contemporary feel to it compared to some of the other pieces in her collection. However, it can be argued that the two additional smaller round cut diamonds sitting on either side of the centre stone bring a touch of old Hollywood glamour.

2015: Yellow Gold Moonstone Engagement Ring

Becks was clearly making up for lost timing in 2015 when he gifted Posh a second engagement ring for that year. This time the star did a complete 180 and gifted the singer-turned-fashion designer a gold diamond ring adorned with a very rare moonstone. Prized for its pearly, opalescent and occasionally power-blue exterior, the moonstone is a mineral consisting of sodium, potassium, aluminium and silicate.

Although Posh has plenty of gemstone pieces in her armoury, this ring was a surprising choice given the moonstone is arguably not the most vibrant, luxurious and colourful gemstone that you can get your hands on. Decked out with a diamond-encrusted bezel band that does its best to emphasise the stone, it is possible that David chose this unique piece designed by Jacob and Co. for its symbolism. Often mistaken for opal and pearl stones, people have believed that moonstones represent good luck, new beginnings and passion.

2016: Square-Cut Diamond Engagement Ring

When Victoria walked the carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016, it wasn’t just Victoria’s sleek monocratic jumpsuit from her label that people couldn’t keep their eyes off of...or her intricate diamond bracelet consisting of multiple different diamond cuts. It was also the appearance new diamond sparkler on THAT finger which was courtesy of one Mr Beckham. A princess-cut engagement ring to be exact.

Mounted on an elegant platinum pave-style band, Posh’s fourteenth engagement ring introduced a whole new diamond cut to her ever-growing collection with its timeless square shape. One of the more subtle rings in her collection…which is saying a lot, Victoria’s diamond solitaire engagement ring is very symbolic of the star’s ever-evolving style. While the star was once known for her love of figure-hugging cocktail dresses with sky-high stilettos and exotic Birkin bags (Victoria reportedly has a Hermes collection worth over $2 million USD), her style in recent years has been more relaxed albeit still tailored to perfection.

2018: Yellow Square-Cut Diamond Engagement Ring

By 2018, one of Britain’s best celebrity couplings proved just how solid their relationship was by celebrating twenty years together (nineteen years as a couple). The couple marked this momentous occasion the only way they know how, by adding yet another engagement ring to the former Spice Girl’s collection. As this was engagement ring number FIFTEEN, David knew it had to be extra special. Hence why he opted for another coloured diamond in a stunning canary yellow hue.

With its jaw-dropping colour and size, the world couldn’t help but collectively gasp when Victoria debuted her new elongated square engagement ring while out and about in New York City in 2018. Reportedly worth somewhere in the north of £120,000, Victoria Beckham’s engagement ring upgrade for 2018 is remarkably similar to the ring that she sported at the Cannes Film Festival. However, instead of a platinum setting, this piece has a yellow gold pave style setting to complement the ring’s stunning square-cut diamond
